March 25 - June 3, 2001 Antioch was founded in 300 BC in what is today southeastern Turkey, near Syria. Known as a jewel in the crown of the Roman Empire, Antioch was described as "the beautiful and great." It was also a diverse center of culture and learning. Antioch was where East met West.
