Floor Mosaic of the Judgment of Paris This scene illustrates the mythic origins of the Trojan War. The shepherd Paris is called upon by Zeus to award the Golden Apple of Discord to the most beautiful of the three goddesses who claimed the title. Here, as Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena pose before the shepherd and his flock, Paris turns to confer with Hermes, standing behind him.
