Field Armor of Archduke Charles II of Inner Austria
|
This armor is characterized by its elegant lines. A lance rest and the cut-off pauldron on the right side of the armor enabled a lance to be firmly set, or "couched," under the arm. The armor, probably made for Charles's 1566 campaign against the Ottomans, is depicted on his marble effigy in the monastery at Seckau in Austria. |
