Music from the Court of Burgundy

Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) and Case Western Reserve University (CASE) are pleased to present this series in conjunction with the exhibition.

The artistic patronage of the dukes of Burgundy extended into architecture, painting, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, and music, both sacred and secular. The composers associated with the court, including Binchois and Du Fay, significantly changed the course of Renaissance music with respect to sonority, ornamentation and the innovative use of plainchant.

In this series, audiences will experience sacred vocal music used in the chapels of the day, as well as secular music heard at feasts and wedding celebrations.

Tickets for all paid events are available by calling (216) 421-7350 or 1-888-CMA-0033 or purchase online. See individual concert listings for single ticket prices. Package discounts are also available; call for details.
