Statuette of a Dancing Woman (about 450-430 BC)
Traces of a pin at the back of this bronze statuette from the Greek city of Locri indicates that it was once attached to another object, perhaps an article of furniture or a large vessel. The feet are set at different levels, so it did not rest on a base. The naturalism of the face and animated, dancing pose of the figure point to a date in the second half of the 5th century BC.
