The City at a Glance Originally a frontier village founded in 1796, Cleveland grew into a manufacturing and business center for northeast Ohio. Cleveland is located on the southern shore of Lake Erie and extends 100 miles along the shore and more than 40 miles inland. It is situated at the intersection of I-77, I-71 and I-90.
