Tracing Light: Garry Fabian Miller Photographs April 10 - July 21, 2004 Admission to this exhibition and the Museum is free. This exhibition of 20 unique dye destruction prints surveys two bodies of work by prominent British photographer Garry Fabian Miller (b. 1957), taking us back to the origins of photography, the idea of painting with light. It was during two recent artist residency programs that Miller became inspired by the renowned British painter J.M.W. Turner's (1775-1851) work, in which the series Petworth Windows was conceived. A painting by Gwen John (1876-1939) in the Graves Art Gallery (Sheffield, England) became the catalyst for the series Burning (with Gwen). Both opportunities allowed Miller to revisit 19th-century origins of photographic technique. About Garry Fabian Miller |
