Gifts of the CMA...
Inspired by Gifts of the Nile and ageless enthusiasm for the art of Ancient Egypt, we are pleased to offer an exciting new collection decorative
items, jewelry, prints and other gifts. Look for these items and more at the Museum Stores or online.
Egyptian Trinket Jar
A perfect size for storing small treasures, our Trinket Jar is based on an ancient Egyptian
Pyxis with Lid in the Museum's collection. Faithfully
reproducing the variable color of the original faience and its lively scene of birds over a papyrus marsh, each Trinket Jar in this numbered Limited
Edition is made and painted entirely by hand. Height approximately 4¼ in. For decorative use only.
Crystal Pomegranate Scent Bottle
An exotic non-native fruit, pomegranates were introduced into ancient Egypt from Western Asia or Cyprus around 1500
bc. Perhaps because of their novelty, pomegranate-shaped vessels, like the faience Pomegranate Flask in the Museum's collection, became tremendously popular. Its charming shape and
rich teal color inspired this hand-made 34% lead crystal scent bottle. Height, including long-stemmed stopper, is 4 in.
Egyptian Fish Tile
Depicting a common theme of Egyptian tomb decoration, the design of this glazed ceramic tile is inspired by a relief decoration found in the tomb
of Mentuemhat at Thebes (c. 660 bc). Ready to hang, this hand-painted tile can also function as a heat-resistant trivet. An adjustable stand is included
for the option of tabletop display. 6 in. square.
King Userkaf Sculpture Reproduction
The tall white crown of Upper Egypt identifies this as the head of a king. Userkaf was the first king of dynasty 5 (c. 2455-2447
bc). His regal gaze of the original is captured in this cast stone reproduction. 10½ inches high including ebony-stained wood base.
Mummy Beach Towel
Recalling the relentless sun and drifting sands of ancient Egypt, our luxuriously proportioned Beach Towel features a beloved object in the
collection of the CMA, the Coffin of
Nesykhonsu. The 100% cotton fiber-reactive towel insures rich, intense colors that will not bleed. 30 x 60 in.
Egyptian Tote Bag
Even a trip across town can seem like an exotic trek with this handsome Tote Bag. Rugged poly canvas construction features vivid, photographically
reproduced classic Egyptian imagery with long over-the-shoulder handles. 13 x 17 in.
Egyptian Sun and Sky Umbrella
Protection from the elements fit for a pharaoh! Details from the elaborately painted Coffin of the Priest of Amen-Ra, Bakenmut in the museum
collection adorn this 36 inch, wooden handled umbrella. Durable polyester fabric opens to a 48 inch diameter.
Egyptian Mousepad, Table Mats, Coasters, and New Clipboards
A coordinated look for the desktop is a breeze with our growing line of Egyptian-themed accessories. The mousepads have been redesigned with a
comfortable slim rubber pad and mouse-friendly surface. Table mats and coasters feature cork backs. New for 1998, clipboards continue the theme with a
firm, portable writing surface (cork-backed hardwood composite) in two handy sizes.
Egyptian Spinner Mug
A new spin on the Spinner Mug, our new Egyptian Spinner Mug is decorated with a scene from the Coffin of Nesykhonsu and features a spinning
miniature rendition of the mummy's elaborately painted case. The mug is dishwasher safe, though not recommended for use in the microwave.
Other new items with an Egyptian theme include jewelry and
Eternal Egypt, a portfolio of 6 prints reproducing treasures of Egyptian art from the collection of the CMA.
