Public Programs Planned in Conjunction with
Legacy of Light: Master Photographs from the Cleveland Museum of Art

Public programs for Legacy of Light include gallery talks, lectures, and hands-on art activities. This article lists these events in two ways: by type of event, and by date. All events are free.

Gallery Talks on Legacy of Light
Wednesday, November 27 at 1:30; Sunday December 1 at 1:30; and Sundays at 2:30, December 8, 1996-February 2, 1997 (no talk Sunday, December 22).

Pinhole Camera Workshop
Sunday, December 29, 2:00-4:00 (not a drop-in workshop; begins promptly at 2:00)
Instructor: Andrea Harchar
In this workshop visitors are invited to learn the basic principals of photography using only a box and light. Participants will mat each negative print and alter the image with various drawing tools. Finished pieces may then be displayed with others on the walls of the Lower Level/Education gallery.

Photo-collage Workshop
Two Sundays, 2:00-4:00: January 5 and January 26 (drop-in family workshops)
Instructor: Gerry Karlovec
Participants in this workshop use a copy machine to reproduce images, which will then be altered by cutting, reassembling, and gluing to produce a unique photo-collage. Finished pieces may be displayed in our Lower Level/Education gallery.

Photogram Workshop
Sunday, January 12, 2:00-4:00 (workshop begins promptly at 2:00 and will be repeated at 3:00)
Instructor: Andrea Harchar
Participants in this workshop use light-sensitive paper to record favorite objects, creating a one-of-a- kind imagea photogram. Finished pieces may be displayed in our Lower Level/Education gallery. Participants should bring favorite objects from home.

Photocopy Workshop
Sunday, February 2, 2:00-4:00
Instructor: Eric Rippert
Participants in this workshop create intriguing pictures by combining already made photocopy images with their own images. Participants should bring interesting pictures and photographs from home to use in creating designs.

Lectures and Films
A series of guest lectures is planned. The museum's annual free Holiday Film Series between Christmas and New Year's Day will focus on photography. Details will be announced when available.
