Defend Yourself, Good Knight A.D. 1580-1620
Bullets could go through armor. Remember, the plates weren't that thick. Armor worked by making bolts and arrows and lances slide off to the side. But when better guns came around, armor had to be made thicker to stop bullets too. This pistol was made for hunting, but pistols and rifles also were used in battle. |

Try this on for size. It won't protect your arms or legs, but it will protect your head and heart, which are more important anyway. This pikeman's armor is very thick. Thick enough to stop a bullet. But that makes it very heavy, so heavy that you couldn't wear a whole suit that covered your whole body. Still, something is better than nothing. |

But knights and soldiers weren't always in battle and weren't always wearing their armor. What will you use to protect yourself if you're not in your armor and Sir Rupert wants to fight a duel with one of these? |
