Make your own blueprint photogram

Materials:

Water
Hydrogen Peroxide
Three Trays (same size as paper)
Blue print proofing paper or print out paper (Huey 394-SC)
Sunlight

This man made blue print paper is easy and safe to use for both teachers and students.

1. Decide what you want to place on top of the paper, objects or yourself.
2. Place the paper inside a folder made out of black or blue construction paper.
3. Fill all three trays half full with room temperature water. In the second tray place a half a bottle ( 4 oz.) of hydrogen peroxide.
4. Practice placing your objects on your blue print paper (blue side)inside before going outside. (IF YOUR PAPER BEGINS TO TURN A LIGHT BLUE THEN IT IS BEING EXPOSED TO SUN LIGHT AND SHOULD BE COVERED IMMEDIATELY).
5. Take paper and objects outside.
6. Quickly arranges objects onto the paper and then expose to the sun. When the background of the paper goes from a blue to almost white it has been exposed long enough to the sun. Cover you paper and remove the objects. Then bring all back inside.
7. Place your blue print paper into the first tray (water) the blue images (from where your objects were placed) will turn a very light blue. Remove to the second tray.
8. Place your paper into the second tray (water and hydrogen peroxide). The back ground will turn a dark blue. Remove to the third tray.
9. Place your paper in the third tray (water). Let soak five minutes. Remove, pat dry with paper towels and let air dry.

After the blue print is dry you can go back and rework it with crayons or paint. Have fun.
