Striding Apis Bull

Bull.jpg - 16.7 K

Did you know...
*Bulls were symbols of strength and fertility in ancient Egypt.

*Apis was the bull of the city of Memphis and associated with the solar gods and Osiris, God of Death and Resurrection.

*When the Apis Bull died, he was embalmed just like a human being and given a magnificent burial.

Look for...
*The sun disk and cobra (uraeus) on his head

*The naturalistic way he is carved to look as though he were walking

*The lines carved around his eyes and on his neck to indicate folds of flesh
