Egyptian Cobra

Did you know...
*It is also called an asp.

*The hoods are created by the extension of the ribs behind the cobra's head.

*It keeps its short, immobile fangs embedded in its victim for several seconds to inject a lethal dose of venom.

*This snake often makes its home in abandoned rodent burrows.

Look for...
*An average length of 5 feet, although the longest ever recorded was 8 feet 6 inches long

*A short wide head not distinct from the neck

*Smooth scales with a dull sheen

*A uniform brown body with the head and neck a little darker and the underpart a yellowish-brown
