Did you know...
*There are 7000 species in the scarab family of dung beetles.

*Beetles are present on every continent except Antarctica.

*A dung beetle can roll a dung ball up to 50 times its own weight.

*It can bury nearly half a ton of dung per acre per year as food for itself and offspring.

Look for...
*A robust body that in some species can be up to 1 1/4 includes long

*The lack of tarsi (jointed feet) on the front legs

*Generally they are a dull black color, although some species may be rather colorful

*Front legs adapted as scoops and to assist in the formation of dung balls
