Egyptian Goose

Goose.jpg - 13.8 K

Did you know...
*It does not migrate.

*It swims well, but spends most of its time on land.

*It has a loud, honking call, but only the ganders (males) hiss.

Look for...
*A chestnut-colored "bandit's mask," breast patch, and ring around the neck.

*Both sexes look alike, although the female slightly smaller than the male.

*Juveniles lack marks on the breast and face.

*Nests among ground vegetation, in holes or trees, and occasionally the old nests of other birds.
