*The shrew is such a big eater that the ancient Egyptian word for it was am-am, meaning "the gulper."

*The shrew is nocturnal. Therefore it was identified with the blind side of the god Horus of Letopolis, "the blind and seeing god."

*Crouching pose as if getting ready to attack
