Family Day at the CMA
Bring your family to the museum every second Sunday of the month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and enjoy free art making activities and programs for all ages. Explore the museum through dance, music, and hands on projects!
February 8, 2015: Africa
Join in the fun! Help us create a flock of African art–inspired paper and cardboard birds that will roost in the atrium. Create a print inspired by wax print African textiles. Make wearable art using your own handmade paper beads.
At 1:00 p.m., Enjoy a performance by Sogbety Diomande, a native of the Ivory Coast in West Africa. A featured musician with troupes in New York City and around the United States, he has also been a member of the Ballet National de Cote d’Ivoire and the Kotchegna Dance Company. Sogbedy is a teaching artist for the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning.
March 8: Do You Hear What I Hear?
Make musical instruments from recycled materials inspired by the collection. Take a music-inspired tour of the galleries. Enjoy experiences in the museum's permanent collection including scavenger hunts, the Art Stories story time program, and Art Cart.
April 12: Museum Ambassadors Community Day
Join us as the Museum Ambassadors from Bedford, CASTLE, Cleveland School of the Arts, John Hay, Lincoln-West, Shaker, Shaw, and Westlake High Schools present an afternoon of free studio activities, games, and tours of their own creation.
May 10: Kaledioscope of Color
Enjoy Mother’s Day at the CMA by engaging in non-messy art activities. Make colorful pinwheels and paper flowers—the perfect gift for a special lady. Use collage to make a colorful work of art to display at home or turn into a card. Enjoy experiences in the museum's permanent collection including scavenger hunts, the Art Stories story time program, and Art Cart.
