Planning for the Future, Yours & Ours

Gift and estate planning is an important process that will benefit both you and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Planning ahead will help prevent the government from receiving a larger portion of the assets you've accumulated over your life.

The CMA was founded with four planned gifts of land, art, cash, securities and other assets. These gifts created the foundation for our permanent collection and continue to contribute to our remaining a world class institution. The museum has become one of the worlds most distinguished comprehensive collections of art, and one of northeastern Ohio's premier civic and cultural institutions. And the distinction we are perhaps the most proud of ---CMA is one of very few world-class cultural institutions where admission is still free.

The Cleveland Museum of Art has established an office of Gift & Estate Planning to provide our members with highly personalized, full-service resources for all types of charitable giving. If you are considering making a gift to the museum, we are happy to help you make your wishes a reality in a taxwise manner.

The museum may hold an important place in your life, and you may wish to make a gift in recognition of its value. While we appreciate every gift of every size, we want the gift to give you the most benefit possible.

The CMA Gift & Estate Planning Office can assist you in selecting the type of gift most suited to your needs. A "Planned Gift" is a term that includes many types of gifts such as gifts or art, bequests through a will, gift annuities, charitable trusts and others. Several types provide "life income" or income benefits to the donor along with tax savings. Some of these gifts are simple and some more sophisticated.

Benefits to You

A thorough and accurate estate plan will ease the burden upon those who handle your estate. It will ensure that assets such as stock, insurance policies and other property not be overlooked by your executor and family. Estate and Gift Planning can benefit you in many ways including:

- distribute your property according to your wishes
- provide tax savings
- generate retirement income
- transfer more of your assets to beneficiaries & less to the government
- provide a lasting legacy through your gift

All conversations with the CMA Office of Gift & Estate Planning are confidential and without obligation. We will provide you a personalized proposal with detailed tax & income information. Contact us at (216) 707-2585 or contact us at plannedgiving@clevelandart.org
