Description
John Taylor Arms looked back nostalgically to the middle ages, finding in medieval architecture a spirituality he felt was lacking in modern life. A technically superb draftsman, he sought to capture this spirit through meticulous transcription of the weathered stones of medieval buildings. This drawing is a study for a print commissioned by the Print Club of Cleveland.- American Drawings from the Permanent Collection. The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH (organizer) (April 19-July 12, 1998).Cleveland, Ohio: The Cleveland Museum of Art; 4/19/98 - 7/12/98.
