Description
Even though Brett had printed Edward’s negatives under his father’s supervision, he came to believe that “no one can print another photographer’s negatives. There are infinite choices to make.” In 1980 he decided to destroy his own negatives when he turned 80. When the time came 11 years later, he carried through on his promise. A few remaining negatives are in the hands of friends, family, and the Center for Creative Photography in Arizona, but they have been scored through so that posthumous prints cannot be made. Brett Weston died in Kona, Hawaii, in 1993.- Sims, Lowery Stokes. The persistence of geometry: form, content, and culture in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art.
