Description

In 2010 Ellen Heck, a printmaker working in California’s Bay Area, made a suite of prints entitled + A Century, inspired by Cassatt’s famous set of 10 color prints. Heck’s 21st-century women are portrayed in private moments, dressing, reading, knitting, spending time with their children and grand-children, and working at laptop computers. With its focus on a full-length, standing figure rendered in a palette of pale pink, green, and beige, The Robe is reminiscent of Cassatt’s The Fitting.
