Home > Ansel Adams: A Legacy

Sunday, May 20, 2007 to Sunday, August 19, 2007
Cleveland Institute of Art

This exhibition featured more than 100 images spanning the career of Ansel Adams (1902–1984), the grand master of American landscape photography. The majestic vistas, intimate texture studies, portraits, and architectural views gathered here were printed by Adams late in his career as a statement of his life's work.

While the images spanned 60 years, these prints were made primarily between the 1960s and early 1980s and share the strong contrast and large size that Adams preferred during those years. The photographs were originally from the collection of the Friends of Photography, one of several organizations Adams helped create to promote fine photography. They are now in the collection of Lynn and Tom Meredith of Austin, Texas.
