Free training workshops in parade skills for leaders of school or community groups preparing Parade the Circle entries help you plan your parade ensemble. Workshops take place at the parade studio (located in the Flats) beginning March 10, 2015 and continuing into April. Training workshops are designed as an introduction to a variety of parade techniques. They offer a chance to experiment and exchange ideas. While consultations about your ensemble are available, there will NOT be an opportunity to begin actual construction of your parade ensemble.
In addition to helping you learn how to conceive your parade ensemble, this year’s workshop series will focus on each group’s creation of a simple Giant Puppet, Burrokeet, or Big Head from beginning to end. Topics include understructures, working with cool stuff, treating the surface, and performance techniques.
For more information and a schedule, contact Community Arts at 216-707-2483 or commartsinfo [at] clevelandart.org. Public parade workshops at the museum begin May 1.
