Family Day at the CMA
Bring your family to the museum every second Sunday of the month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and enjoy free art making activities and programs for all ages. Explore the museum through dance, music, and hands on projects!
On Second Sundays in July, August, and September from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., enjoy swing dancing on the south terrace with Valerie Salstrom of Get Hep Swing. The event includes free lessons.
July 13: Get Moving! The Art of Transformation
This family day connects to the museum's exhibition about yoga. Take a family yoga class, move like animals in the museum's collection, or create your own paper tangka.
August 10: Creativity Explosion
In partnership with the Great Lakes Science Center, engineer your own playful explorations of the five senses. Collaborate on a community installation and make your own art to take home. Enjoy experiences in the museum's collection through scavenger hunts, the Art Stories story time program, and Art Cart.
September 14: America the Beautiful
This month, explore the museum's American Art collection. Explore the landscapes that make our country great. Use the variety of natural greenery which lends itself to interesting patterns and textures to make your own artwork. Picture yourself as the father of our country, George Washington. Enjoy experiences in the museum's collection through scavenger hunts, the Art Stories story time program, and Art Cart.
