Art together is about families making, sharing, and having fun together in the galleries and classroom. Each workshop is a unique hands-on experience that links art making to one of our special exhibitions. Artworks inspire exploration of a wide variety of art techniques and materials. Whether you attend one workshop or participate in the whole series, we encourage you and your family to join ours and make Art Together.
Join us as we investigate how artists use lines by experimenting with different styles of mark marking, various materials and both abstract and representational art.
Sunday, August 14, 1:00-3:30. Encaustic painting, also known as molten wax painting, is the focus of this workshop. Melted wax and pigments are combined to create layers of color in a free and spontaneous way.
Sunday, September 18, 1:00-3:30. Still life pictures can celebrate the simplest of objects or the fanciest of things; we’ll bring both together in our super-sized still life in the studio. The basics of composition and color-mixing will be covered before we begin our own acrylic paintings.
