Volunteer Opportunities

Information desk

The information desk is often the first stop for guests, so we are always looking for volunteers to welcome visitors to the museum. If you are interested in the museum and its programs and have a good sense of orientation, the information desk is likely a good fit.

We need volunteers for the following shifts: Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.; Wednesday and Friday, 5:00 to 8:30 p.m.

A commitment of two shifts per month is required.

For more information, contact Liz Pim at 216-707-2593 or lpim@clevelandart.org.

Membership Representative

Consider becoming a membership representative. Duties include “staffing” the Membership Center in the east wing, hosting at membership events and exhibition openings, and selling memberships.

A commitment of two to four shifts per month is required.

For more information, contact Liz Pim at 216-707-2593 or lpim@clevelandart.org.

Survey Corps

Survey corps volunteers connect with visitors to discuss their museum experience. Volunteers work with a short “exit survey” to gather information on the visitors’ overall experience in the galleries and other public spaces and the frequency of their visits. This research provides the museum with important information and suggestions for improving the museum experience.

A commitment of one two-hour shift per month is required. Opportunities for additional hours are offered on a periodic basis.

For more information, contact Liz Pim at 216-707-2593 or lpim@clevelandart.org.

Community Arts Festivals

Many hands needed for Parade the Circle on the second Saturday in June, parade workshops in May and June, the Chalk Festival in mid-September and the Winter Lights Lantern Festival/Holiday CircleFest at the beginning of December. Greet visitors, register participants, assist at hands-on workshops, or help with production work for feature creations.

Jobs range from a single slot to weeks of work before parade.

For more information, contact Liz Pim at 216-707-2593 or lpim@clevelandart.org.

Gallery One Host Program

Gallery One offers visitors new ways of interpreting the museum's collection through a unique blend of art, interpretation, and technology. As vital members of the Gallery One team, hosts will welcome and help visitors navigate the space and its interactive features, and talk with visitors of all ages about art. Your duties include: striking up conversations with visitors about the art; helping visitors use the technology in the space; and encouraging parents to participate with their children in the space.

The training sessions take place on three Wednesday evenings from 6–8:30 p.m., and occur on a rolling basis. Hosts are expected to volunteer in Gallery One for at least two shifts each month. Applicants should be enthusiastic, welcoming, and have an interest in the museum, its community, and technology. All applicants are required to complete an in-person interview.
