Behind the Scenes: Guest Artists Collaborate for Parade the Circle

As they prepare for the Cleveland Museum of Art’s 2011 Parade the Circle, six guest artists sprawl their talents out across the large outdoor tent, combining sculpture, painting, scenic design, construction, and clothing design to collaborate on the three giant puppets that will tell the Hindu myth of Shakuntala, the love story of a cursed princess.

Behind the Scenes: Creating a Winter Whimsical World

By Helen Cherry Guest Blogger As the days grow shorter and darkness descends on us earlier and earlier, head down to the museum to see “Winter’s Whimsical World” in the museum’s lower level lobby. This wonderful guest lantern display filled with imaginary human and animal sculptures was created by 17 Hawken High School art students and their teacher Denise Buckley and will bring a smile to your face and a warm glow to your soul.

Community of Relationships: Community mural project

Four local artists, along with members of neighborhoods bordering the museum: Fairfax; Glenville; Hough and East Cleveland have taken part in designing and creating vibrant community murals. At this year’s 21st annual Cleveland Museum of Art’s I Madonnari Chalk Festival, the mural artists and community volunteers had a chance to draft large-scale cartoons of their mural designs.
