Picking up your tickets:
If you did not have the tickets mailed to you, pick up your tickets at the ticket center in the north lobby at the main entrance of the museum.

Where to meet your docent:
Your docent will be waiting for your group to arrive near the information desk in the north lobby at the main entrance of the museum.

Timed tickets:
When booking your trip, you will be asked to select a time for your group to enter the special exhibition galleries. You should enter the exhibition galleries no more than 30 minutes after this time. If you are more than 30 minutes late, your tickets will not guarantee immediate entry to the exhibition. Once you enter the exhibition, you may stay as long as you wish, however upon exiting, please be aware that there is no re-entry to the exhibition.

Gallery policies:

  • Group leaders are responsible for the behavior of their groups at all times.
  • Visitors may not touch the works of art.
  • Bags, purses, backpacks, baby backpacks, and umbrellas larger than 11 x 15 x 6 inches must be checked at coat check or stored in a locker. All umbrellas must be checked at the coat check.
  • No food or drink in the galleries.
  • Photography and video recording are not permitted in special exhibition galleries.

Our parking garage is accessible from Jeptha Drive at the northwest corner of the museum’s campus. The garage’s top level is at street level and a short walk from the museum’s north entrance. The middle level of the garage connects to the lower level of the museum through an interior tunnel. From the bottom level of the garage, visitors must ascend to the middle or top by way of the stairs or elevator. Current parking garage fees are: FREE for up to 30 minutes; $8 for 31 minutes to 2 hours; $1 per 30 minutes thereafter to $14 max; $8 flat rate after 5:00 p.m. Members pay a $6 flat rate and senior citizen members receive free parking on Tuesdays. Visitors can pay their parking fees at the interior tunnel pay station (cash or credit card), at the north entrance vestibule (credit card only), at the automated parking lot exit booth (credit card only), or at the manned parking lot booth (cash or credit card).

Bus unloading and parking:
Bus unloading is at the museum’s main (north) entrance, which faces Wade Oval. Bus parking is on Martin Luther King Drive between Chester Avenue and Jeptha Drive. Maps are available at the welcome desk in the north lobby of the museum.

Special instructions for bus drivers:
Bus drivers should note that there are a number of arched stone bridges in Rockefeller Park, and tall vehicles should therefore stay toward the center of MLK Boulevard if arriving by that route. Buses arriving by this route also may have difficulty negotiating the sharp turn onto Jeptha Drive. There are two alternatives: proceed past Jeptha Drive, cross Chester Avenue, turn left onto Euclid Avenue, and turn left again onto East Boulevard in order to approach the museum from the other side; or, at the East 105th Street traffic circle, instead of staying on MLK Boulevard, go a half-turn counterclockwise around the circle, and then bear right uphill onto East Boulevard; then turn right at the first intersection, Wade Oval. Bus unloading is at the museum’s main (north) entrance, which faces Wade Oval.

Provenance café:
Chef Douglas Katz presents a seasonally inspired café menu with food made from scratch, utilizing authentic ingredients. A variety of cultural influences are abundant in the flavors and atmosphere. Menu offerings will include traditional café favorites, savory flatbreads fresh from the hearth, a spin on street food fare, and much more.

Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays 10:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Wednesdays, Fridays 10:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m.

Private Docent-Led Tours of the Permanent Collection

Highlight tour of the permanent collection

  • There are no tickets associated with highlight tours because our permanent collection is always free.
  • Tours must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance of the tour date. We are not able to accommodate any changes made after that time.
  • We are able to schedule tours up to three months in advance.
  • Tours are scheduled for groups of 10 or more.
  • There is a $25 suggested donation* per docent for docent-led tours. 
  • All requests are subject to guide availability; we can accommodate 25 people per tour guide.

Customized tours of the permanent collection

  • A customized tour costs $100 per tour guide.
  • Tours are scheduled for groups of 10 or more.
  • All requests are subject to guide availability; we can accommodate 25 people per tour guide.
  • The tour request must be made at least four weeks in advance of the tour date.
  • To confirm your reservation, payment must be received two weeks prior to your scheduled visit.
