Guest Curator Dr. Dana E. Cowen discusses Albrecht Dürer’s 1511 woodcut series The Life of the Virgin in honor of the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, celebrated annually in Little Italy. Comprised of twenty prints, the devotional series was among the artist’s most popular for its naturalism and accessibility.
