Calls for Support and Online "Share Your Story" Program continue

Cleveland (December 1, 2020)—The Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) today announced that it had reached the goal of the Eric and Jane Nord Family Challenge less than six weeks after the grant was announced in early October. The grant from the Eric and Jane Nord family matched donations to the museum with $4 for each $1 contributed by other donors, with the Nord Family contributing up to $1 million.  All funds raised from the Eric and Jane Nord Family Challenge support the ongoing production of free online, virtual, and onsite programs during this difficult time.

The Nord Family Challenge also inspired a new program, whereby the CMA invited community members to Share Your Story on its website, cma.org, where the museum continues to post and share community stories as a show of appreciation for public support.

“I am thrilled with the community show of adoration for this important treasure,” said museum supporter Jane Nord.  “This is such wonderful timing, as we are around the corner from the Thanksgiving holiday, to thank everyone who has made contributions or showed your love, however you can, for this great institution.  I hope this spirit continues through the holidays and donations and support continue.”

“We are most grateful to the Eric and Jane Nord family for their extraordinary generosity and for inspiring us to find new ways to build connections and engage people of all ages during these challenging times,” said William M. Griswold, director and president of the Cleveland Museum of Art. “Every gift makes a difference and we continue to seek support from the community through contributions to the CMA Fund and annual memberships, as we maintain our commitment to serving audiences throughout Northeast Ohio with free online and onsite activities for all.”

The CMA invites community members to share their CMA Story by visiting cma.org, by using #OurCMA and #TheNordChallenge or to email them to ourcma@clevelandart.org.
