CMA Concerts at Transformer Station
New fall/winter concert series features global music
CLEVELAND (October 24, 2013) — Cleveland Museum of Art presents an ongoing series of solo concerts featuring composed and improvised music by some of the most remarkable artists of our time at Transformer Station (1460 West 29 Street Cleveland, OH 44113).
“We’re excited to extend the museum’s outstanding concert programming beyond the walls of the museum and to expand our role as a dynamic force in the field of international music,” Thomas M. Welsh, Director of City Stages at the Cleveland Museum of Art says. “I can think of no better place to start a series like this than in the Transformer Station.”
This series will complement the rapidly expanding Hingetown neighborhood and add a new artistic resource to the community to engage in the international discussion of the music of our time.

Sunday, October 27, 2013, 7:30 p.m.: Garth Knox
Viola player Garth Knox performs an evocative mixed program of early, contemporary and traditional music including works by Kurtag, Ligeti, Knox and more. Accompanied by Scott Dixon, the double bassist of the Cleveland Orchestra.

Monday, November 4, 2013, 7:30 p.m.: Maja Ratkje
For her debut Cleveland performance, join us for an evening of voice and electroncis from Norway's most dynamic composer/performer, Maja Ratkje, an artist "who can genuinely be said to be extending the expressive range of the voice through technical and technological means." -The Wire.

At the core of Mark Dresser's music is an artistic obsession and commitment to expanding the sonic and musical possibilities of the double bass through the use of unconventional amplification and extended techniques. Cleveland debut.

Wednesday, November 13, 2013, 7:30 p.m.: Mark Fell
Join us for a night of electronic music by Mark Fell. Known for combining popular music styles, such as electronic and techno, Fell integrates a more academic approach to computer-based composition with a particular emphasis on algorithmic and mathematical systems. Sunday, December 15, 2013, 7:30 p.m.: Camille Norment
Multimedia artist Camille Norment's current trajectory of work includes live performance as a mode of exploring the formal and cultural consonances and dissonances in music, freely collapsing any given genre and aesthetic spectrums. A resident of Norway, Norment will perform a mix of glass armonica and electronics for the first time in Cleveland.
