Make It an Artful Father’s Day at the Cleveland Museum of Art

Cleveland (June 17, 2021) — Celebrate Father’s Day at the Cleveland Museum of Art Sunday, June 20. Families can explore favorite galleries like the Armor Court and tour these free exhibitions:

• Medieval Treasures from Münster Cathedral, featuring a rare selection of gold and silver reliquaries, jeweled crosses and illuminated manuscripts from the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Münster, in northwestern Germany.

• From Caves to Tombs: Chinese Pictorial Rubbings from Stone Reliefs, celebrating the recent conservation of two monumental rubbings from the Buddhist caves of Longmen in central China. Also on display are rubbings relating to the Wu Family Shrines of the Eastern Han dynasty (AD 25–220) in Shandong Province in eastern China.

• Animal Fables of Mughal India, featuring paintings from five animal fables included in the museum’s nearly complete Tuti-nama(Tales of a Parrot) manuscript plus one scene from an Anwar-i Suhaili(Lights of Canopus).

Enjoy lunch in the museum’s Ames Family Atrium, Cleveland’s largest free indoor public space.

Outside, stroll through the sculpture-filled and tree-lined walkways of the Fine Arts Garden—masterfully designed by the firm of landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of Central Park in New York City—and the Smith Family Gateway, the recently completed park along the west side of the building featuring lush landscaping and overlooks.
