Did You Know?

Some of the design relief has been molded as well as being built up in the white slip.

Description

One popular method of covering large wall sections with ceramic decoration was to combine star-shaped tiles with cross-shaped tiles.
An eight-point star fritware tile features molded floral designs in relief against a dusty blue background. A large creamy-white blossom with pointed petals is centered, with curved stems extending toward the points ending in smaller flowers and rounded leaves. Small dark blue and teal dots accent the flower centers. Fine cracks cover the glaze, and the edges of the star show visible wear and small chips.
