A vertically oriented oil painting in thick, visible brushstrokes depicts a man with light skin tone and a dark mustache looking upward and toward our right. Deep shadow from light at the upper right obscures his eyes, highlighting his nose and chin. He wears a dark hat and military uniform with a bright red collar and shoulder details over a white chest piece, emerging from a mottled, dark gray and brown background.
