A circular bronze medal shown from both sides. One face depicts a woman with closed eyes and wavy hair cradling a baby against her face, "PRO PATRIA" curving along the edge. The reverse shows a muscular nude man chained to a jagged rock, torso arched back as an eagle pecks his chest. The words "PRO HVMANITATE" encircle the figure, while the name "Joseph E. Renier Sc." is inscribed along the bottom edge.
