Description

The upper half of this panel shows a unicorn hunt reconfigured to represent the annunciation. Only a virgin could lure a unicorn who is seen here grasping the horn of the mythical beast; not far behind are the hunter and hounds. The Virgin here is the Virgin Mary and arriving to the scene is the angel Gabriel dressed as a hunter.
A vertically oriented stained glass panel features fragmented white glass and silver stain. Below, a woman in a white gown stands beside a large shield and helmet adorned with an axe and wing. Above, in an arched vignette, a woman touches a white unicorn while hounds run toward a winged figure blowing a horn. Fragments of vibrant red glass fill the background, and yellow architectural pillars flank the scene.
