Description

This print is from a series of fourteen views of the villages and chateaux in Flanders. Each page of the series depicted a similar setting, and turning the pages was analogous to making a journey through the countryside. Although the scenes were a product of the artist=s imagination, they were made to appear as real as possible. This series was one of the first to show such intimate and naturalistic views. The prints were re-published in the early 17th-century in Amsterdam and had a great impact on later Dutch art.
