A vertically oriented watercolor and gouache painting depicts a ruined stone church framed by a large arch. Beneath a blue sky with flying black birds, tall glassless windows stand amidst crumbling masonry. In the lower half, a dark horse with a red saddle grazes beside a small fire with rising smoke. Weathered tan walls and lush greenery are rendered with delicate, translucent washes, with a signature in the lower left corner.
