A vertical hanging scroll depicts a landscape in muted brown tones. Gnarled trees with reddish-brown foliage and dark dashes conveying leaves grow on an undulating rocky slope. To their right, a small thatched pavilion sits on a bank overlooking a calm river and distant, hazy mountains. Dense clusters of brushstrokes define the rugged terrain. Chinese calligraphy and two red seals occupy the upper right corner, set against the vast, empty sky.
