One of the most influential photographers and teachers in mid-twentieth-century photography, Siskind brought photography into dialogue with contemporary painting, particularly Abstract Expressionism. Known for his incorporation of graffiti into his photographs, Siskind turns found imagery from the urban environment into a spare visual poem in this image.
