CMA at Transformer Station Raúl de Nieves: Fina OPEN NOW Through processes of accumulation and a celebration of excess, de Nieves transforms humble materials into spectacular objects and immersive narrative environments. Fina, the artist’s first solo museum exhibition, features a new site-specific installation developed for Transformer Station. This exhibition is organized by the CMA and is on view at Transformer Station.
Beyond Truth: Photography after the Shutter COMING SOON: Opening Sun, 2/10 Beyond Truth explores figurative scenes and portraits in which artists have altered the “truth” through postproduction techniques. Want to be a part of the exhibition? Take a selfie and use the photo-editing tools at your disposal — filters, face-altering apps, or effects — to manipulate your image and create an alternate truth. Post your photo to social media using #CMAbeyondtruth. It may be added to photos on a video screen in the gallery, becoming part of the exhibition.
Georgia O’Keeffe: Living Modern OPEN NOW: Through Sun, 3/3 Take a unique look into the fascinating connections between the paintings, personal style, and public persona of one of America’s most iconic artists. Read the Forbes article here and dive deeper into the exhibition with the blog post here.
Charles Burchfield: The Ohio Landscapes, 1915–1920 OPEN NOW Explore the key role that northeast Ohio played in the art and life of American artist Charles Burchfield. He experimented avidly with watercolor, which allowed him to develop a new abstract style that defined his work. Read the Plain Dealer review.
Meditation in the Galleries Sat, 2/9 Join us to clear your mind and refresh your spirit with meditation sessions led by experienced practitioners. All are welcome; no prior experience with meditation is required. __ Our 11:00 a.m. session features the serene atmosphere of the west wing glass box gallery. Enjoy guided meditation among works from the museum’s Indian and Southeast Asian collection. __ Our 1:00 p.m. session offers an active walking meditation practice that takes your walk to a new level of awareness and promotes gratitude, mindfulness, wellness, and a deeply felt sense of fulfillment.
