Shinto: Discovery of the Divine in Japanese Art is presented in two rotations. The second rotation runs from Thursday, May 23, through Sunday, June 30. The exhibition will be closed on Tuesday, May 21, and Wednesday, May 22, to rotate the works of art. The exhibition reopens on Thursday, May 23.

This exhibition showcases three monumental gunpowder works — including one inspired by the Cuyahoga River — by Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang, known for his explosion events, gunpowder paintings, and installations. The CMA is pleased to present this exhibition as part of Cuyahoga50, a citywide commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the last Cuyahoga River fire and celebration of the progress made toward clean water for all.
