Medieval Monsters: Terrors, Aliens, Wonders

Where do monsters come from? Discover the answer in this exhibition, the first of its kind in North America. Unicorns, sirens, and dragons leapt from the minds of medieval artists to inspire fear, entertainment, and wonder. On Tue, 7/16 at noon, join Jennifer DePrizio, director of interpretation, in a gallery discussion highlighting the ways in which monsters were used in the Middle Ages to instill fear, communicate morality, and maintain power.

An interactive performance that imparts the gift of song to visitors. As artist Lee Mingwei contemplated mortality and the beauty of life, the notion of a folding and unfolding blossom became the foundation for this immersive musical experience in which a solo vocalist performs one of five of Schubert’s Lieder.
