Medieval Monsters: Terrors, Aliens, Wonders OPEN NOW FREE Where do monsters come from? Discover the answer in this exhibition, the first of its kind in North America. Unicorns, sirens, and dragons leapt from the minds of medieval artists to inspire fear, entertainment, and wonder. On Tue, 7/16 at noon, join Jennifer DePrizio, director of interpretation, in a gallery discussion highlighting the ways in which monsters were used in the Middle Ages to instill fear, communicate morality, and maintain power.
Summer Creativity Camps Various dates, Mon, 7/15–Fri, 7/26 Register Play and experiment in these fun, art-filled camps bursting with engaging gallery games and hands-on creativity. Ages 4–18.
Lee Mingwei: Sonic Blossom Performances: Fridays, 7/19, 7/26: 4:00–8:00 p.m. Saturdays, 7/20, 7/27: 12:00–4:00 p.m. Sundays, 7/21, 7/28: 12:00–4:00 p.m. FREE An interactive performance that imparts the gift of song to visitors. As artist Lee Mingwei contemplated mortality and the beauty of life, the notion of a folding and unfolding blossom became the foundation for this immersive musical experience in which a solo vocalist performs one of five of Schubert’s Lieder.
Studio Go Summer Series Fridays, 7/19–7/26 FREE Studio Go, the museum’s mobile art studio, brings hands-on art experiences to summer events and community celebrations across northeast Ohio. In this summer event series, Studio Go partners with Recess Cleveland every Friday for an outdoor experience featuring art-making, recess games, and ample outdoor activities on the CMA’s outdoor campus.
