About The Event

Join photographer and artist Amber N. Ford and mindfulness teacher LaToya Kent for a series of drop-in activities and experiences about the therapeutic and restorative possibilities of art and meditation. Share your reflections on art and healing; explore objects from the CMA’s education art collection originally used for prayer, healing, and reflection; and learn the basics of meditation.

Organized in conjunction with the FRONT International 2022 Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art, Oh, Gods of Dust and Rainbows

Amber N. Ford is an artist and freelance photographer based in Cleveland. She holds a BFA in photography from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Ford is a 2022 MOCA Cleveland artist-in-residence exploring the duality of dying and healing. She is also the space activation curator at Thirdspace Action Lab (TSAL), a grassroots research, strategy, and design cooperative located in the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland, where she participates in creating the vision, scope, and execution of TSAL creative programs, projects, and initiatives.

LaToya Kent likes to call herself a guide, referring to her work as a birth and death doula, yoga and mindfulness teacher, singer-songwriter, independent Cleveland-based music label co-owner of Cleveland Tapes, and mother to one amazing son. She works with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District as a mindfulness guide through the Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Playhouse Theatre.
