About The Event

Julia Wachtel’s works reflect a long-standing fascination with and profound skepticism toward the ever-increasing pace and complexity with which images proliferate and merge. Her paintings deal with the appropriated vernacular of mass culture that the artist replicates, illustrates, simulates, alters, and parodies. Join the artist and Reto Thüring, curator of the exhibition, as they discuss Wachtel’s work and career in celebration of the opening day of her retrospective at the Transformer Station.
