About The Event
Saturday, November 19, 2:00
Recital Hall
Celebrate the close of the centennial year with two lectures featuring loans from right here in Ohio. For the first lecture in the series, Stephen Harrison, curator of decorative art and design at the Cleveland Museum of Art, explores the Wade Family Tiffany jewels, the stunning Wade Necklace on loan from Tiffany & Co. Archives and a second necklace featuring diamonds and pink tourmaline from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Cleveland Museum of Art founder Jeptha Homer Wade II commissioned the elaborate Wade Necklace for his wife Elizabeth Garretson Wade. Wade, a celebrated collector of precious gems, later gave his collection of rare stones to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
