About The Event

Join us at the Community Arts Center for an afternoon of storytelling with Michele Rudolph from the Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers. Families are encouraged to listen carefully as Michele guides us on a literary journey inspired by the legacy of Martin Luther King.

Michele is a retired social worker and the immediate past president of the Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers (CABS). Michele serves on the executive board of CABS and is a member of the National Association of Black Storytellers (NABS). She currently serves as communications officer for CABS. Michele wrote the short story “Cleveland: The New Promised Land” in the book Far from Their Eyes: Ohio Migration Anthology (volume I), depicting the story of her family’s migration from the South to the North. Michele has performed at schools, libraries, and community and cultural events for audiences of all ages throughout Northeast Ohio. As a professional storyteller and teaching artist, Michele uses stories to share and celebrate her rich and beautiful culture.

Members of the Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers use the art of storytelling to teach, to bring laughter, to entertain, and to tell their stories that depict the experiences of Africans and African Americans throughout the diaspora, past, present, and future. They pass the stories on. Learn more about the Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers on the organization’s website at clevelandstorytellers.org (opens in a new tab)
