Friends of Photography Virtual Artist Talk: Wendy Red Star

Tuesday, October 26, 2021, 6:00 p.m.

About The Event

Join artist Wendy Red Star and Nadiah Rivera Fellah, associate curator of contemporary art, for a conversation about a newly commissioned work Red Star created for Picturing Motherhood Now (on view at the Cleveland Museum of Art from October 16, 2021, through March 13, 2022) and other exciting recent and future projects by the artist in various media.

Raised on the Apsáalooke (Crow) reservation in Montana, Red Star’s work is informed both by her cultural heritage and her engagement with many forms of creative expression, including photography, sculpture, video, fiber arts, and performance. An avid researcher of archives and historical narratives, Red Star seeks to incorporate and recast her research, offering new and unexpected perspectives in work that is at once inquisitive, witty, and unsettling. Red Star holds a BFA from Montana State University, Bozeman, and an MFA in sculpture from the University of California, Los Angeles. She lives and works in Portland, Oregon.

Friends of Photography and Contemporary Art Society members will receive a digital invitation. This event will be hosted on Zoom; the event link and instructions will be provided to those who RSVP.
