Inside the Stories—A Focused Look

Tuesday, March 9, 2021, 10:00–11:00 a.m.

About The Event

The CMA looked within to develop the current major show in the Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation Exhibition Hall, Stories from Storage, which opened on February 7 and runs through May 16. The exhibition features 20 thematic short stories, each of them illustrated with works that ordinarily reside in the museum’s vaults. The exhibition focuses on the curators’ poetic and personal tales and perspectives. The narratives are alternately playful, insightful, contemplative, and philosophical.

Womens Council and Painting and Drawing Society will hear from Mark Cole, Chair of Modern, Contemporary & Decorative Arts and William P. and Amanda C. Madar Curator of American Painting and Sculpture, as he presents the story behind the single painting he chose for this exhibition, Haverstraw Bay.

Members of the Womens Council and Painting and Drawing Society will receive a digital invitation. This event will be hosted on Zoom; the event link and instructions will be provided to those who RSVP.
