Morley Lecture Hall

Artist and choreographer Maria Hassabi (Cypriot, b. 1973) is based in New York City and Athens. Her performances and installations probe the relationship between the live body and the still image, utilizing stillness and the velocity of deceleration as both technique and subject. In her lecture “Paradox of Stillness,” Hassabi discusses the distinct choreographic practice that she has developed over the years.
